The Riverside Hotel is a unique and privately owned hotel set in a beautiful location with spectacular views overlooking the River Avon. The hotel can be found along a secluded, private drive, within the original 12th century Deer Park of Evesham Abbey.
The restaurant, with its wonderful views and luxurious ambience, is an integral part of the hotel and is renowned for its award-winning cuisine, having, again, been awarded the AA two rosette award, and being recommended in Johansens, Atkins independent Guide for Fine Wines and Champagne, and featured on the BBC Holiday Programme.
When the BBC Holiday Programme featured The Riverside on television its presenters enthused about its spectacular location and described our fine food as being comparable with the top restaurants in London.

Room Facilities
All the bedrooms are beautifully appointed and each room has its own unique theme. All have been furnished with luxurious king size beds and ensuite bathrooms or shower rooms and some have the luxury of a sunken Jacuzzi spa. Tea and coffee making facilities, TV and direct dial phone/internet/fax services are available and every bedroom has far-reaching views overlooking the river Avon and countryside beyond.

Our Local History
The Riverside Hotel is set in one of the areas most historic locations. In 702 Offenham was endowed to Evesham Abbey and the village was held by the abbots continuously until the abbey was dissolved by Henry VII in 1540.
The Riverside Hotel is also directly opposite the site of the great Battle of Evesham where, on August 4th 1265, Simon de Montfort was killed fighting for his belief in representative government. Following Simon’s slaughter at the top of Greenhill, his men tried to escape by running through the fields to Offenham, only to drown in the Avon. Many skeletons of men and horses are said to have been dug-up near Dead Man’s Ait a little to the north of the hotel.
An axe-head from the battle, recently discovered along the riverbank at Offenham, is to be seen at the Almonry Heritage Centre in Evesham (once the abbey almoner’s house) which has many more abbey and battle relics. Near to The Almonry is the beautiful Abbey Park with the abbey’s two remaining churches, and the superb 16th century bell tower built by Clement Lichfield, the last true Abbot of Evesham. There are stepping stones nearby marking out the site of the great Abbey Church and you will find some walls and the cloister arch still remain.

To See and Do
Near to Evesham is the delightful village of Broadway, the ‘capital’ of the Cotswolds — being only ten minutes drive away The ancient wool market town of Chipping Campden is a little further as is Stow-on-the Wold.
Stratford-upon-Avon, home of Shakespeare, is a 20-minute drive away and where you will find the famous Royal Shakespeare Theatre and Anne Hathaway's Cottage. You can relax in the beautiful parks of Stratford or hire boats for day trips on the river. There are also plenty of activities locally including golf: horse riding and miles of country walks, or you can fish on the banks of the Avon from the hotel grounds.
The hotel has its own private mooring facilities for those who wish to arrive by boat or hire their own to cruise to Evesham and other local beauty spots.
Cheltenham Spa, home of the Cheltenham Race Festival, is close-by and other attractions include Hidcote Manor Gardens, Warwick Castle, Worcester Spode (Debbie is it not Porcelain??) factory, and Cricket Ground.

Restaurant and Lounge
The Riverside now offers a new lunchtime menu, in the restaurant, which include a full A la Carte choice or a more informal, light lunch. Fresh fish features prominently at The Riverside where the menu is imaginative; the food is fresh, and organic where possible, and cooked to perfection. Italian, Greek, fine-wine and champagne nights are regularly held at the Riverside where the dining room overlooks wonderful views across the River Avon and the countryside beyond.
Guests can also relax in the comfortable, newly refurbished lounge with its plush sofas and open fire, and enjoy background music played by the hotel’s resident pianist.
